2017 Dancers

  • Kelsey Starks

Kelsey Starks is a native of Owensboro, Kentucky who now considers herself a proud Louisvillian. Although she is best known for her time as morning anchor of "Good Morning Kentuckiana" on WHAS11 News, she is happy to sleep past 2am these days if her new bosses allow it. She happily answers as "mommy" to three small humans that she attempts to keep alive each day.

Kelsey earned a journalism degree from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) and a master’s from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism. Her career took her to New York City, Chicago, Washington DC and Charleston, South Carolina before she landed in Louisville in 2008. During her time at WHAS, she was voted “Best Kentucky TV Personality” by Kentucky Living Magazine and chosen as “Most Admired Woman” in Media by Today’s Woman magazine. She is currently host of KET's educational current events show, "News Quiz" and freelance reporter for "Great Day Live" on WHAS-TV.

Her dancing experience includes 15 years with the Owensboro Dance Theater and four years of intense study in "bar dancing" during her college years. Her only salsa experience prior to this competition has been accompanied by chips.
