Megan Edwards, the Cardinal Athletic Fund’s Executive Director of Development, is tasked with raising capital and annual funds to support the University of Louisville athletics department’s 23 teams. As a former collegiate student-athlete, her goal is to provide Louisville’s more than 600 student-athletes with the same life changing experiences and luxuries she was afforded. While she has secured more than $2 million in philanthropic gifts in the past two years, her most fulfilling achievement is creating the Women of Influence program, which connects female student-athletes to mentoring and networking opportunities with some of the most elite female executives in town.
Megan, while still considered ‘new to town,’ is an active member of the community. She is a member of the Junior League of Louisville, Cathedral of the Assumption, and a supporter of Blessings in a Backpack. Megan, who graduated from Bowling Green State University, played college golf while earning her bachelor’s degree in sport management and master’s in sport administration. During her time there, she earned NGCA Academic All-America honors and was voted team captain.
The St. Paul, Minn., native’s perfect day in Louisville includes an Orange Theory workout, breakfast at Wild Eggs, beating her husband on the golf course, a glass of champagne, and watching UofL’s teams win. Megan is married to former Louisville soccer goalkeeper Charlie Edwards.
