John Smart

John has extensive spirits and wine sales industry experience having served four decades at Southern Wine and Spirits and then Heaven Hill Brands.  Today he leads The Smart Approach as an industry consultant.  In his spare time, you’ll see John playing the jazz drums at Lou Lou on Market, The Biscuit Lounge and numerous charity events with the John Smart Trio.  Although John picked up the drums just in the last 12 years, he is a third-generation jazz musician.

John is a member of the Cathedral of the Assumption and served on the Parish Council.  He has also been a volunteer for Let’s Dance Louisville since its inception.  John is married to Leslie Smart and has two bonus children, Charles and Emily.
