Shawn was born and raised in Clarksville, Indiana before heading off to college at Indiana University in Bloomington. There he majored in Kinesiology with his concentration focusing on Physical Education. Upon graduating from IU in 2014, Shawn returned home and was hired to teach PE at St. Michael Catholic School in Louisville.
Over the last 10 years Shawn, or "Hoffman" as he is more commonly known around St. Michael, has loved every second of being a "Knight." In his time there Shawn has not only taught PE but he has also- coached tackle football, started the girls flag football program, coaches the 8th grade girls flag football team, volunteers as the bartender at Fish Fry Fridays and the yearly Gala, volunteers at the annual summer picnic, works at the day camp on campus over the summer break, attends as many sporting events that he can, and offers a helping hand anywhere he can around campus. In his time away from St Michael, you can find Shawn on the pickleball court, golf course, or watching his favorite show "Survivor."
Even though he has no dance background, other than the Chicken Dance in PE, he is looking forward to the opportunity to participate in "Let's Dance Louisville" this summer. Shawn always tells his students to step out of their comfort zones and to have fun! He is excited to live up to this piece of advice on the dance floor!
